What is social media audit?
A social media audit is a review of all your social accounts and their performance to see what is working, what is not and where to improve.
An audit gives you a clear picture of your social media health. Over time, accounts drift: profiles get outdated, some channels go quiet and goals change. A regular audit helps you focus your time on the networks and content that actually bring results.
A typical audit lists every account you own, checks that profiles are complete and consistent, and reviews key numbers like reach, engagement and follower growth. It also looks at which posts performed best and worst, how often you post, and whether each channel supports your goals. You can use native analytics or a management tool to gather the data.
Audit at least once or twice a year, or before a big new campaign. Use a simple spreadsheet to record findings. Close or merge accounts you cannot maintain. Turn what you learn into a short action list for the next few months.
Example
A dental practice audits its accounts and finds its Facebook page drives most bookings, so it shifts more effort there.
