What is quote post?

A quote post is when you share someone else's post on your own profile and add your own comment above it, so both appear together.

Quote posts let you join a conversation while adding your own view. They show your followers what you think about news, ideas or customer praise. For businesses, they can spotlight happy customers or add helpful context to industry updates.

X calls this quoting, Threads and Bluesky also let you quote posts, and LinkedIn lets you repost with your thoughts. The original author is usually notified, and their post is embedded inside yours. Some networks let people limit who can quote their posts.

Add real value in your comment rather than just a word or two. Quote positive customer posts to share praise in a natural way. Be careful when quoting to disagree, since it can look like you are piling on. Always check what you are quoting so you do not accidentally amplify something misleading.

Example

A bookstore quote-posts a customer's photo of their new reading nook and adds a thank you plus a recommendation for the next book.
