What is Pin?

A Pin is a post on Pinterest, usually an image or short video with a title, description and link, that people save to their boards.

Pins work more like search results than typical social posts. People use Pinterest to plan projects, purchases and ideas, so a good Pin can keep sending visitors to your website for a long time after you post it. That makes it useful for businesses with visual products or helpful guides.

Each Pin can link to a web page. Pinterest uses the keywords in your title, description and board names to decide where to show it. Users save Pins to their own boards, which spreads them to new people. Tall, vertical images tend to display best, though recommended sizes can change.

Write titles and descriptions using words people would actually search for. Use clear, bright images with simple text overlays. Link each Pin to a page that delivers exactly what it shows. Create several Pins for your most important pages so they reach different searches.

Example

A home decor shop creates a Pin for every blog post about small-space styling, each linking to the related product page.
