What is profile?

A profile is the public page on a social network that represents a person or business, showing its name, photo, bio, links and posts.

Your profile is often the first impression people get. Before following or buying, many people glance at your photo, bio and recent posts to decide whether you are trustworthy and relevant. A complete, clear profile makes that decision easier.

Every network has a profile with a name, handle, avatar and bio, plus extras that vary. Instagram and TikTok show a grid of posts and a link area. LinkedIn profiles include work history and skills. Facebook and LinkedIn also offer separate business pages. Many networks offer business or creator profile types with extra tools like contact buttons and analytics.

Use the same name, handle and logo across networks so people recognize you. Write a bio that says what you do and who you help. Add a link to your website or a link-in-bio page, and keep your contact details current.

Example

A wedding photographer uses the same logo, handle and short bio on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest so couples can find her easily.
