What is social proof?
Social proof is the idea that people trust and follow the choices of others, shown through reviews, testimonials, follower counts and customer posts.
People often look to others before deciding what to buy or whom to trust. Positive reviews, happy customer photos and recommendations from respected people make your business feel safer to choose. On social media, social proof can turn casual browsers into customers.
Social proof shows up in many forms: comments praising your service, ratings, customer photos you repost, case studies on LinkedIn, creator endorsements and even busy comment sections. Every network has its own ways to display it, from story highlights on Instagram to recommendations and reviews on Facebook pages.
Ask satisfied customers for reviews and permission to share their posts. Collect testimonials into a story highlight or pinned post. Share real results, such as a finished project, rather than vague praise. Never invent or buy reviews or followers; it damages trust and breaks network rules.
Example
A landscaping company shares before and after photos from customers, each with a short quote about their experience.
