What is Duet?

A Duet is a TikTok feature that lets you record your own video alongside another person's video, so both play side by side on screen at the same time.

Duets make it easy to join a conversation that is already happening. You can react to a trend, answer a question, show your take on a recipe or add your voice to a song. Because Duets link back to the original video, they can help both creators get discovered.

On TikTok, you choose a public video that allows Duets, then record yours in a split-screen layout, with options for different arrangements. Creators can turn Duets on or off for their own videos. Similar side-by-side remix features exist on other short-video networks, often under different names.

Use Duets to add something genuinely useful or entertaining, not just to copy. Respond to customer questions, demonstrate your product reacting to a trend, or team up with partners. Always keep comments respectful toward the original creator.

Example

A hair stylist uses a TikTok Duet to react to a viral hair fail video and show viewers how to fix the problem properly.
